Had a great Talks today on being Human in an AI world. Here are some uses from the delegates…

**SQL, DAX, and Excel Formulas**: Sandra mentioned that she had encountered issues with programming languages such as SQL and DAX, as well as with Excel formulas. ChatGPT was able to identify the problem and provide a solution. Additionally, the tool allowed for follow-up questions, such as clarifications when a formula still wasn’t working as expected.

**Guidance Document**: Sandra also spoke about the need to write a guidance document on Power BI and Data governance. ChatGPT provided an outline of the content she should include, but Sandra noted that the final alignment of the guidance to her specific work context was up to her.

**Excel Formulas**: Neil’s experience with ChatGPT was related to Excel, especially when dealing with complex, nested formulas. He used the tool for assistance when modelling data, indicating that it was valuable for intricate spreadsheet operations.

**SQL Queries**: Peter used ChatGPT to assist him in formulating advanced queries in Excel and SQL. This suggests that ChatGPT can be a powerful ally when dealing with database queries and spreadsheet functions.

**Business Development Brainstorming**: Peter also mentioned using ChatGPT as a brainstorming tool for business development opportunities. This indicates that beyond technical tasks, ChatGPT can also be a creative partner, helping users explore new avenues and ideas in business strategy and development.

The experiences of these individuals highlight the versatility of ChatGPT. While it can assist with technical tasks related to programming and data analysis, it can also serve as a brainstorming partner for more abstract and strategic undertakings.

BTW, the above was produced in 2 minutes using ChatGPT! ????

Having landed in a new contract about a month ago, something that is quite new to me and quite challenging for the business as a whole is an apparently new phenomenon of “accounting judgement papers”. The Group is audited by Deloitte, & Deloitte are requesting *large* volumes of *extensive* accounting judgement papers explaining how various transactions/parts of the business are accounted for, why, and how it relates to accounting standards. Very easy to ask for – takes hours/days/weeks or more to produce. I’ve Googled this and didn’t find much reference to it, other than in a 2021 paper by Deloitte NZ on “how to write an accounting paper”. In any case, the reason for explaining all this is that I’ve had some success with getting genAI to draft some nice content for me for these. Obviously it all needs to be verified, but in terms of speeding up the writing process, it is working. Would love to hear from anyone else who is working in a business that is having to produce these to satisfy auditors?

PS. Depending on what I’m writing, different bots have been more or less useful. I used my free trial of LiveChatAI to create a ‘pure’ IFRS bot – you can train your own bot on a defined container of information. In my case, this was the IFRS.org website – and know that you’re only going to get clean content generated from the reference material you want it to use, not whatever other webjunk Copilot/Bard etc have eaten for lunch. The LiveChatAI content is pretty robust.
