Autodidactic learning (i.e. being able to self-educate & not being reliant on others to inform or train you). Certainly in the latter half of my career so far, I’ve been surrounded by people who are lacking either a) the knowledge, b) the time or c) the skillset (or a combination of those things) to be able to effectively train me on anything. To the degree that I’ve been successful, it’s because I am curious and I try new things, and persevere until I get them to work. The ability to evolve your knowledge & skills independently trumps any specific knowledge or skill, I think.

So agree with @LynneT – continual self learning & development is absolutely key.

Along with digital skills being a crucial future finance skill, those business partnering skills are becoming not just an important but a necessity to differentiate yourself from a robot!

Some things that will never go out of fashion – passion & enthusiasm for what you do!!
